Recensione : The Long Riders (Bof) Lavoro a due tra Cooder e Hill,il regista ha girato il film cadenzandolo sulle ballate composte da Cooder.The long riders è un lavoro studiato ed eseguito in modo splendido,con una strumentazione scarna,quasi completamente acustico,dalla struttura sonora perfetta.All'incisione hanno partecipato alcuni tra i migliori esecutori del genere :David Lindley(ex Kaleidoscope),Milt Holland,Jim Dickinson,Bill Bryson,Curt Boterse,Jim Kelfner e Tom Sauber.Vari sono gli stili di musica western presenti nell'album,musica tipicamente da ballo,square dance e musica per funerali e alcune canzoni prettamente legate alla musica del tempo riferito nel film.E' un disco dove Cooder va alla ricerca delle radici della musica popolare,delle sue origini in modo intimista,della musica che lo ha accompagnato sin dalla più tenera età,un nuovo tipo di western music,realista ed essenziale ma profondamente legato al contesto storico-sociale a cui fa riferimento il film.
Disco splendido,suonato in modo superbo.

Per tutti gli estimatori di Cooder,consiglio l'ottimo bootleg Nyon Folk Festival 22 juillet 1979(non so se è stato portato su cd).,.buona caccia
